Carolyn Lee Langdon, age 72, of Burnside, passed from this life on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at her home.

Carolyn was born on July 26, 1944 in Somerset to the Late Herbert and Della Mae Coffey Denton. She was a self-employed housekeeper who enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching and quilting. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed listening to gospel music. Her family has selected four of her favorite songs for her funeral service. “In the Garden”, “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art” and “It is Well With my Soul”. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend that will be sadly missed.

Carolyn is survived by her sons: Richard Lee (Janie) Sweeney, of Somerset and Randy Scott Sweeney, of Burnside; her brothers; Lloyd Murrell (Jackie) Denton, of Science Hill and Charles Boyd (Connie) Denton, of Lancaster; her sisters; Jean Church, of Lancaster, Charlotte Miller, of Somerset, Gail (Don) Wilson, of Danville, and Mary Lou (Sammy) Stepp, of Burnside; her five grandchildren, Myranda Sweeney, Lauren (Daniel) Copenhagen Jeremiah Sweeney, Kayla Sweeney, Leah Sweeney and Ablazea Shelton; and one great-grandchild, Eli Copenhagen.

Preceding Carolyn in death are her parents, and a son Dale Wayne Sweeney.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel after 11:00 O’clock a.m.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 1:00 O’clock p.m., in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Bill Haynes, of Grace Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in the Southern Oaks Cemetery.
