Miss Ruby Myrel Burdine, age 71 years and 4 months, departed from this life on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, in Huntsville, Tennessee.
Myrel was born on July 24, 1945, in the Squib Community, daughter of the late Ford and Alice Baker Burdine. She was a long time member of Chimney Rock Baptist Church and regularly attended as long as she was able. Myrel enjoyed singing at the nursing home and doing her yard work. She loved going to church and being with her family.
She is survived by her brothers, Denton (and Emma) Burdine, of Greenfield, Indiana, Dorwin (and Marty) Burdine, Fortville, Indiana, Carlos (and Treasa) Burdine, of Greenwood, Indiana, and Marvin (and Regina) Burdine, also of Greenwood; her sisters, Lois (and John) Arthur, of Somerset, Letha (and Lawrence) Arthur, of Somerset, Eunice (and Lew) Hawk, of Indianapolis, and Shirley (and Wayne) Whitaker, also of Somerset; her sisters-in-law, Hassie Burdine, of Beech Grove, Indiana, and Illa Burdine, of Danville, Indiana; and a host of nieces and nephews, all who mourn her passing.
Preceding Myrel in death are her parents; and her brothers, Fordie Burdine and Clifford Burdine.
Visitation will be Friday, December 2, 2016, after 6:00 p.m., in Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., in Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jack Harris and Bro. Wayne Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Chimney Rock Cemetery.
