Elva “Arlen” Blanton, age 84, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital..
Arlen was born on August 18, 1932, in Union City, Tennessee, son of the late Odie and Nova Ladd Blanton. He was a retired steel mill worker for 39 years at Great Lakes Steel in Michigan. Arlen was a Korean War Veteran, enjoyed working, farming and the outdoors. He was of the Christian faith
He is survived by a son, Jerry (and Renia) Blanton, of Somerset, and a daughter, Barbara Blanton, of Michigan; and his brother in laws, Eddie Mounce, and Jimmy Mounce; and sister in laws, Dorothy Blanton, of Martin, Tennessee, Sharon Kilgore, Janie Bullock, Georgie Szlachta, and Frances Balentine; grandchildren, Arlen Blanton, of Berea, Sandra (and Jason) Mullins, of Lincoln Park, Michigan, Karen (and Brad) Cole, of Berea,Ky; great grandchildren, Lexi Mullins, Jason Mullins Jr., Arey Mullins, and Nate Mullins; nephews Kenneth Blanton, Raymond Blanton, and John Blanton; nieces, Aletha Ritchie; and like a daughter, Doris Donati, of Somerset.
Preceding Arlen in death are his parents; and a brother, Gene Blanton.
Visitation will be Friday, November 18, 2016, at 5:00 pm, in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 11:00 am, in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Bradley Goforth officiating. Burial will follow in the Southern Oaks Cemetery.
