Doris Ann Lewis, age 69, of Burnside passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Rockcastle Regional Hospital, in Mount Vernon.

Doris was born in Somerset, on September 19, 1947, daughter of the late John and Helen West Alton.  She married Darrell Joe Lewis, in Jellico, Tennessee, on December 22, 1971.  Fate made Doris a widow at the age of 37; she raised her children on her own.  She was a loving, but tough mother.  “She loved us all and provided for us all”.  Her children and grandchildren never went without.  Doris was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burnside.

She is survived by her sons, Conley Ray (and wife, Leslie) Lewis, of Oklahoma City, Jason Lewis (and Crystal Wilson), of Burnside, and Christopher Lewis, of Burnside; her daughters, Donna Jean Whitis, of Burnside, Wanda Lou Trotter (and Holly Hardwick), of Bronston, and Lizzie Joe Lewis, of Tateville; her grandchildren, Amanda Jo, Kacy Scott, Caleb Todd, Robbie Ray, Johnathan, Courtnee, Jack Hardin, John Foster, Ozzy Ray, Hazel Mae and Ava Willow; her great-grandchildren, Tristan, Jasper, Amelia, Weston and Emma Grace; her brother, Herb (and wife, Donna Sue) Alton, of Springport, Indiana; her former son-in-law, Anthony Ray Trotter; and her former daughter-in-law, Amanda Brown.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Alton; her husband, Darrell Joe Lewis, who passed away on October 13, 1985; her grandson, Anthony Darrell Lewis; and her brothers, Gene Bottoms, John Henry Rigney and Harold Alton.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, after 6:00 p.m., in Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. David Muse officiating.  Burial will be in Grave Hill Cemetery, in Tateville.

Doris’ grandchildren will serve as her pallbearers.
