William “Bill” Swail, age 73, of Bronston, passed from this life on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Baptist Health Hospital, in Lexington.

Bill was born on January 20, 1943, in Boston, Massachusetts, son of the late Paul Swail and Catherine Smith Swail Guilian.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.  Bill formerly worked as a VW mechanic and then as a city “Doc” mechanic, until his retirement in 2006.  He spent his life in volunteerism, including baseball coach, firefighter and mission work for his church.  He was an avid sports enthusiast, especially baseball, NASCAR and U.K. basketball.  Bill served as Trustee and Treasurer of Liberty Baptist Church and Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Keith Swail; his sons, Steven Swail, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Brian (and Ginger) Swail, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Kevin (and Terry) Swail, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; his daughters, Sonya Bauder, of Suffolk, Virginia, and Paula (and Don) Tucker, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; his brother, David (and Jess) Swail, of Hinsdale, Massachusetts; his sister, Nancy (and Dean) Morey, of Edwards, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Kendall Swail, Carter Swail, Summer Swail, Haley Upchurch, Jessie Upchurch, Hayes Upchurch, Ryan Swail, Marissa Swail, Michael Bauder, Sarah Bauder, Hope Baker and Paige Carter; and four great-grandchildren, Aro, Pierce and Cross Bauder and Gavin Baker.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 13, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 14, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at Liberty Baptist Church, in Kidder, with Bro. Ulanda Price and Bro. Darvie Fenison officiating.  There will be a visitation on Sunday, at the church, from 1:00 p.m. until funeral service time.

Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, in Kidder.
