Douglas “Mac” MacArthur Blankenship, age 72, of Mount Victory, passed from this life on April 22, 2016, at his residence. Mac was born in Elk Valley, Tennessee, on March 1, 1944, son of the late Grover Cleveland and Annie Lamb Stokes Blankenship. Mac worked for years as a coal miner. He enjoyed hunting and loved to ginseng hunt. Mac was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his sons, Marty Blankenship, of Alabama, and Grover D. and wife, Amanda Nelson, of Somerset; his daughters, Donna D. and husband, David Lang, of Tampa, Florida, Jeannie Gonzalez, Plant City, Florida, Shelby Blankenship, of Land O’Lakes, Florida, and Keasha Nelson, of Scott County, Tennessee; his sisters, Mabel Goward, of Zephyrhills, Florida, Myrtle Blankenship, of Tampa, Florida and Louise Powers, of LaFollette, Tennessee; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a life-long, close friend, Bob Muse, of Newcomb, Tennessee. Mac is preceded in death by his parents; his two sisters, Thelma Harbison and Ruby Williams; and his best friend, Merle Price. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 28, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, in Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will follow the visitation, Thursday, in the funeral home chapel, at 12:00 noon, with Bro. Dallous Sears officiating. Burial will be in Red Cut Cemetery, in the Elk Valley-Pioneer community in Campbell County, Tennessee. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
