James “Jim” Sammons, age 50, of Nancy, passed from this life on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at his residence.
Jim was born in Corbin, on January 24, 1966. He married Brenda Adkins on June 2, 2000, in Somerset. He loved to fish and watch NASCAR and wrestling. Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren, and was of the Pentecostal faith.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Adkins Sammons; his mother, Ruth Richards Chancellor, of London; his son, Allen (and Crystal) Hash, of Russell Springs; his daughter, Denise (and Brandon) Rood, of Somerset; his brothers, Billy Sammons, of Gray, and Scotty Sammons, of Bedford; his sisters, Tammy Honeycutt, Debbie Sammons, Lillian Mock, Ruthie Ellison, all of Corbin, Crystal Brock, of London, and Christy Nichols, of Barbourville; and his five grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, April 11, 2016, after 11:00 a.m., in Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.The funeral service will follow the visitation, in the funeral home chapel, at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. Chris Brown officiating.
Burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen Hash, Byron Gossett, C.J. Cook, Harlan Richards, Ken Richardson and William Adkins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the James “Jim” Sammons Memorial Fund.
