James “Rick” Stevens, age 57, of the Slate Branch Community, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 6, 2016.

Rick was born on June 4, 1958, in Springdale, Ohio, son of James and Maxine Barker Stevens, of the Slate Branch Community. He was the tournament director for Friday Night Lake Cumberland Fishing Tournaments. Rick loved fishing, hunting and horseback riding. He was a football and archery coach. Rick was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his parents; his sons, Chris (and Shenoa) Baker, of Nancy, and Robbie (and Stephanie) Baker, of Somerset; his sisters, Debbie Mick, of Slate Branch Community, and Pam (and Mike) Harris’, of Oak Hill Community; his grandchildren, Brody Baker, Bentley Paige Baker, Ava Baker, Brock Woodcock, Jasmine Woodcock, Carter Stevens, Hunter Baker, Kailyn Henderson, Kyndal Henderson, Braxton Boyd and Haylee Boyd; his uncles, Everett (and Connie) Stevens, of Slate Branch Community, Terry (and Jean) Barker, of Eubank, and Bob Mayfield, of Indianapolis, Indiana; and his aunts, Helen Petrey, of Lancaster, Sandra Barker, of Slate Branch Community and Regina Barker, of Nancy.

Rick is preceded in death by his son, James “Jamie” Stevens, II.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 10, 2016, after 11:00 a.m., in Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral will follow the visitation, at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Gilbert Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Slate Branch Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Lockard, Brody Baker, Jeff Barker, Luke Boyd, Jerry Barker, Larry Taylor and Mike Harris.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the James “Rick” Stevens Memorial Fund.
