Dewitt Clinton Woodall, age 67, of the Slate Branch Community, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Dewitt was born on January 29, 1949, in the Ruth Community, son of the late Clinton and Irma Phelps Woodall.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving his country in the U.S. Navy.  Dewitt married Margie Beasley on January 18, 1976, at Slate Branch Baptist Church, where he was a member.  He was a retired maintenance worker for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; he loved working at the power plant and being around the water.  Dewitt enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Margie; their son, Christopher Woodall, of Somerset; his brothers, Phillip (and Gloria) Woodall, of Elihu, Kevin Woodall, of Somerset, and Richard Edward Woodall, of Somerset; his sisters, Janice Dodson, of Oak Hill, Sandra Johnson, of Sunman, Indiana, Virginia Sue (and Roy) Pike, of Danville and Rhonda Crowe, of Evansville, Indiana; many aunts and uncles; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dewitt is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dennis Woodall and infant brother, Darrell Woodall. 

Visitation will be Sunday, March 13, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., in Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral service will be Monday, March 14, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Bill Dawson and Bro. Gary Phelps officiating.

Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery.

Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
