Sanford Lee “Bimbo” Rhodus, age 60, of Somerset, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, in Lexington.

Sanford was born on March 27, 1955, in Richmond. He was a self-employed dry-waller and carpenter. Sanford enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sons, Anthony Rhodus, of Jamestown, and Michael (and Brittany) Bidwell, of Somerset; his daughter, Robyn Michelle (and Jay) Wiles, of Science Hill; his brothers, Jackie Rhodus, Donnie Gene Smith and Kenneth L. (and Diane) Smith, all of Nicholasville; and his grandchildren, Rosie Rhodus, Stormy Nevaeh Rhodus and Emilie Bidwell.

Sanford is preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Rosie Lee Baker and Louis Smith; his wife Billie Jean Bidwell Rhodus, who passed away on November 7, 2015; and his brother, Johnny Rhodus.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 27, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., in Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Gary Phelps and Bro. Allen Fisher officiating. Interment will be in Southern Oaks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Sanford Lee Rhodus Memorial Fund.
