Wayne “Legus” Edmond Marcum, age 84, of Nancy, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center.

Wayne was born on November 11, 1931, in De Land, Illinois, son of the late Arnold and Clara Dalton Marcum. He married Marietta Epperson on May 1, 1971, in Georgia. Wayne was retired from the State Highway Department. He enjoyed hunting and farming, and going ginseng digging. Wayne was a member of Delmer Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his wife, Marietta; his son, Terry Edmond Marcum, of Florida, and Shannon Marcum and Kevin Marcum, both of Nancy; his daughters, Kathy Jo (and Charlie) Cope, of Florence, Karen Sue (and Christopher) Serafini, of Syracuse, New York; Doris Ann Marcum, of Cincinnati, Ohio; his step-daughter, Elaine Frye, of Nancy; his step-son, Virthel (and Jennifer) Burton, of Nancy; his brothers, Lewell Marcum, of Somerset, and Milford (and Mina) Marcum, of Nancy; his sisters, Wanda (and James) Epperson, of Nancy, Sophia Bloomfield, Beulah Roberts and Ann New, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren, Teri, Deidre, Hoss, Stacie, Derek, Peanut, Chelsi, Courtney, Kaleigh, JW, Carrigan, Shaina, Valona, Corey, Kayla, Kiersten and Codie; twelve great-grandchildren, Tyler, Makenzie, Alyssa, Mylie, Bayleigh, Kamdon, Aiyana, Niva, Raegin, Reiley, Chase and Caiden; his great-great-grandson, Lucas; and his best friend and neighbor, Larry Burton.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Waymond B. Marcum and Jimmy Wayne Marcum; his daughter, Shirley Jean Marcum; his brother, Clifford Marcum; his sisters, Rosaline Marcum, Hattie Marcum VanHoosier, Doris Osborne and Adele Bolton; and his granddaughter, Ashley Marcum.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 15, 2016, after 5:00 p.m., in the Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Scott Cooksey officiating.

Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, in Nancy.
