Bryan Scott Payne, age 44, son of Clifford Morris and Irene Lay Payne, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Bryan was born on December 9, 1971, in Somerset. He was most recently a self-employed computer technician. Bryan served his community as a member of the Parkers Mill and Firebrook Fire Departments, and as a member of the Somerset-Pulaski County Rescue Squad. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his parents, Clifford and Irene Payne, of Somerset; his sister, Sandra Payne Doebler, of Somerset; his brother, Randall Glen Payne, of Lawrenceburg; his nephew, Brandon L. Doebler, of Somerset; his niece, Brittany D. Doebler, of Bowling Green; his uncles, Ken Lay, Delphus Lay and Arthur Hembree; two aunts, Evelyn Miller and Aline Payne; and one great aunt, Celia Davis; and ten cousins.

Bryan is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Payne; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Lay; four uncles, J.D. Lay, Harold Payne, Oliver Williams and Glen Payne; and four aunts, Nola Williams, Judy Lay, Lorene Hembree and Marjorene Lay; and one cousin, Ted Williams.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., in the funeral home chapel. Bro. Stephen Griffis will officiate the service at the funeral home chapel and Mr. Arthur Hembree will officiate the graveside service in Barbourville.

Burial will be in the Lay Cemetery in Barbourville.

Pallbearers will be Greg Lay, Brian Evans, Chris Lay, Jack Richardson, Jared Shepherd and Jason Lowe.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parkers Mill Volunteer Fire Department or to the Firebrook Volunteer Fire Department.
