Nora Ellen Jasper, age 92, of Ferguson, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015, at her residence.

Nora was born on May 12, 1923, in the Slate Branch Community, to the late Isaac Marion and Eula Daulton Hardgrove. She married James Preston Jasper on December 30, 1939, in the Delmer Community. She loved to go cave exploring and was an avid rock hunter and arrow head collector. Nora enjoyed quilting by hand. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph (and Deanna) Jasper, of Science Hill, Thomas (and Bing) Jasper, of New Castle, Indiana, and Gregory Jasper, of Somerset; her daughters, Marian Bond (and Paul McGowan), of Somerset, Judy Compton, of Somerset, Kay (and Jackie) Spaw, of Somerset, Cynthia Slaughter, of Ferguson, Becky Gallagher, of Somerset, Liz (and J.R.) Warren, of Somerset, and Lisa (and Ray) McGrayel, of Noblesville, Indiana; her brother, Bernard (and Linda) Hardgrove, of Nancy; her sister, Josephine Lewis, of Austin, Indiana; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding Nora in death are her parents; her husband; her sons, John Galen Jasper, David Claud Jasper, and James Robert “Bob” Jasper; her brother, John Hardgrove; and her sisters, Willie May Street, Clara Cushard, Irene Winchester and Dean Wilburn.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 27, 2015, from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m., in Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel B.

Her funeral service will follow the visitation in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, with Bro. David Muse officiating.

Burial will be in the Pisgah Cemetery.
