Robert E. Combs, age 65, of Bronston, formerly of Whitesburg, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2015.

He leaves to mourn his passing: a loving mother, Jeanette Stamper, of Sommerville, Ohio; a son, William Edward (and Angie) Combs, of Whitesburg, Kentucky; a daughter, Melanie Ann (and Johnny) Martin, of Isom, Kentucky; four grandsons, Dakota, Montana, Caden and Sammy; also one granddaughter, Sierra Owens; one brother, Kevin D. (and Linda) Stamper, of Lewisburg, Ohio; a sister, Debra (and Tooter) Combs, of Dwarf, Kentucky; a special cousin (who seems like a sister) Nancy Jane Mitchell, of Frazier Park, California; and two very special people in his life, Nadine and Duane Wells, of Bronston (“whom I can never start to repay all they have done for me over the last years of my life. “I thank both of you to the bottom of my heart, God bless you both for all the kindness.”)

Robert was a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Kentucky for 44 years and a licensed embalmer in Tennessee for years. “I always tried to do my best to make things better and easier on the families I served with respect and compassion.”

“Thank to a friend, John Brown, for everything, and two special kids, Jayden, the lively mischievous one that keeps you on your toes always; and a dear little sweetheart, Natasha, that melts your heart with those sweet smiles. Also, a special thank you to everyone for all the help and support shown to me during my illness: all the Hospice workers, and again, to Nadine and Duane- I can never forget you for all you have done. A Big Thank You! Also, thanks to Singleton Embalming Service of London and staff and all Funeral Professionals I have met in my 44 years of service.”

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., in Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Keith McKim officiating.

Interment will follow in Sloans Valley Cemetery.
