Mitchell Ward, age 64, of Somerset, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Mitchell was born on December 5, 1951, in White Lily, to the late Willie Pearl and Sarah Sears Ward. He was a veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Army.

Mitchell married Betty Whitt, in Somerset, on December 5, 1974. They had five sons from their union.

He was a retired cook from Bob Evans Restaurant. Mitchell was a member of Acorn Baptist Church. He loved being outdoors and nature, and especially enjoyed fishing, arrowhead hunting and going for rides and looking for deer.

He is survived by his sons, Willie Mitchell Ward (and Rita R.J. Jones), of Somerset, Nathan Lee (and Jessica) Ward, of Somerset, and Scott Jacob Ward (and Charlotte Powell), of Somerset; his companion of forty-seven years, Betty Whitt Ward, of Somerset; his brother, Carl (and Karen) Ward, of Ohio; his sister, Hazel (and Danny) West, of Science Hill; and five grandchildren, Katlyn Ward, Jacob Ward, Bentley Ward, Nathaniel Ward and Brayden Ward.

Preceding Mitchell in death are his parents; his sons, Don Christopher Ward and Jason Ward; his brothers, J.C. Ward and Kenneth Ward; and his sister, Jennifer Janelle Ward.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., in Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral service will follow the visitation in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m., with Bro. Raymond Ridner officiating.

Interment will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mitchell Ward Memorial Fund.
