Elizabeth Marie Poynter, age 88, of Somerset, departed this life on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at the Somerwoods Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.
She was born on January 7, 1927, in Wayne County, to the late Rufus and Nannie Beasley Bell.
In her earlier years, she attended Pleasant View Baptist Church. She then moved to town and became a member of Denham Street Baptist Church. She farmed, worked at the Palm Beach Company, then, became a self-employed care-giver. Later, she became a Foster Grandparent at Oakwood and continued to work there until she was eighty years old.
Elizabeth loved her LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ, loved reading her Bible, going to church and doing nursing home ministry. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, sewing, bird watching and watching U.K. basketball games.
She was a dear and precious mother and grandmother who loved her family unconditionally and will be greatly missed.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Harold Bullock; her second husband, Raymond Floyd Poynter; a son, Harold Bullock, Jr.; a great-grandson, Cody Christopher Nix; six brothers, Charlie Bell, Forest Bell, Walter Bell, Marion Bell, Grover Bell and Clyde Bell; her sisters, Claire Taylor, Roxie Phillips, Irene Hughes and Lillian Calhoun; and a step-daughter, Mary Price.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Lee Bullock (and Janie), of Somerset; her daughter, Marlene Jones (and Jerry), of Somerset; her grandchildren, Anna Bullock Mize (and Jeff), Eddie Bullock, Missy Nix (and Bro.Scotty), Chris Jones (and Shasta), Jerri Layne Bullock (and Don), Michael Bullock, Tracy Bullock (and Karissa), Amy Phillips, Donnie Phillips and Joey Price (and Heather); her great-grandchildren, Miranda Hunt (and Ben), Caitlyn Mize, Trevor Mize, Cameron Bullock, Zach Bullock, Jeremy Nix (and Savannah), Hannah Nix, Jacob Nix, Sydney Jones, Shayla Jones, Jared Acton (and Heather), Kelsey Acton, Keaston Bullock, Maverick Bullock, Gavin Bullock, Emily Bullock, Tiffany Lockard, Jordan Lockard and Joseph Price; and her great-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Nix, Maverick Hunt, Owen Hunt, Haven Acton, Mason Acton and Jamison Acton.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at 3:00 p.m., in the Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m., Sunday, until time for funeral services.
Officiating the funeral service will be Bro. Jeff Griffith, Bro. Scotty Nix and Bro. Chris Jones.
Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, on Mark Welborn Road.
