Melton Berry Jones, age 57 of Ferguson, KY passed away on Saturday October 10, 2015 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

He was born on August 16, 1958 in Williamsburg, KY to the late Charlie and Wanda Paul Jones.

Melton was a member of the Old Fashion Faith Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved his grandkids. He was a retired Correctional Officer at Northpoint Prison in Danville, KY and a Supervisor at Oakwood Behavioral Facility.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Wanda Jones, his grandparents, one sister, Mary Clark and his mother-in-law, Flonnie Simpson.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis Simpson Jones of Ferguson, KY; two daughters, Shannon Colyer of Ferguson and Beth (and Tony) Peters of Ferguson; four grandkids, Riley Colyer, Noah Colyer, Raegan Peters and Abigail Peters; brothers, Andy (and Karen) Jones, Tim (and Sara) Jones and David Jones; sisters, Carolyn (and Jeff) Privett, Delphi Jones, Lois (and Johnny) Smith; his father-in-law, Everett Simpson of Bronston; his best friend, Jerry Ping, with a host of family and friends that loved him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 13, 2015 after 12pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday October 13, 2015 at 2pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. David Muse officiating.

Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery in Kidder, KY.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Melton Jones Memorial Fund C/O Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
