Joseph Scott Lee, of Somerset, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2015, in Lexington, at the age of 34.
Joseph was born on May 6, 1981, in Louisville, to Larry and Deanna Babcock Lee.
He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. Joseph was the husband of Bonita Farley Lee. He graduated from St. Petersburg University, in St. Petersburg, Florida. He attended Victory Christian fellowship, in Somerset, and was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church, of St. Petersburg. Joseph loved to write short stories and poems. He spent most of his time ministering to others and making a difference in people’s lives. Joseph enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with his nieces and family. He was a strong advocate for the Global Downs Syndrome Foundation.
He is survived by his parents, Larry and Deanna Lee; his wife, Bonita Farley Lee; his sons, Alexander Joseph Lee, of Wallace, South Carolina, and Andrew Joseph Lee, of Somerset; his daughter, Abigail Mae Lee, of Somerset; his two step-daughters, Mollie Anne and Kaitlin Marie; two sisters, Christy (and Donald) Kessler, of Somerset, and Vanessa (and Daniel) Wethington, of Mt. Washington; his closest childhood friend, Shayne (and Melissa) Griffin, of Palm Harbor, Florida; and by numerous friends, family members and extended family.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, October 2, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
A Memorial Service honoring the life of Joseph Scott Lee, will be held on Friday, at 3:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home, with Rev. Lucien Behar and Pastor Mark Harrell officiating.
Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Global Downs Syndrome Foundation.
