Doris Jean (Stone) Hall, age 74, of Somerset, KY., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday August 27, 2015 following a long illness.
A Pulaski County native, she was born on December 29, 1940 to the late Johnny Otto Stone and Gussie (Worley) Stone. She was retired from the Somerset City School System. She was of Baptist faith. She enjoyed cooking and keeping her family well fed, quilting, gardening, reading, and being with family and friends. Some of her favorite times in life were when she could be helping and serving others in times of sickness and need, as she had a true serving spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Lawrence Hall, of whom she married on April 1, 1959, two brothers, Chester Stone and Ray Stone, three sisters, Christine Stone, Ellen Garrett, and Geraldine Grimes, three brothers-in-law, Claude Garrett, Kenneth Callahan, and David Dishman, and one sister-in-law, Jewell Stone.
She is survived by three sons, Lawrence Dewayne (and Kimberly M.) Hall of Greenwood, IN; Henry Melvin (and Kimberly A.) Hall of Somerset, KY; and Larry Dale Hall (and Shonda Miller) of Somerset, KY; four granddaughters, Amanda Mae Hall, and Kayla Danielle Hall, Kayla (and David) Caldwell, and Kendra Keith; one grandson, Cody (and Amanda) Keith, six great-grandchildren, Hailey Jean and Daniel William Schermerhorn, Aiden Dewayne Allen Cain, Aspen Bryce Holder, Brayden Keith, and Aurellia Keith, four brothers, Hugh Stone, Richard (and Kimberly) Stone, Roland Stone, and Ronald (and Valerie) Stone; four sisters, Nellie (and Thomas) Allred, Lois Thorton, Joyce (and Roger) Mills, and Annie Dishman, and a sister-in-law, Rose Stone.
Visitation will be held on Sunday August 30, 2015 from 12pm to 3pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday August 30, 2015 at 3pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Butt officiating.
Burial will be in West Somerset Cemetery.
Reception to follow after burial in the Community Room at Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
