Irene Hughes Keith age 67 of Burnside, KY went home to be with her Lord on Friday June 12, 2015 after a 23 year courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on July 22, 1947 in Greenwood, KY to the late Luther and Marie Worley Hughes.
Irene was a member of Greenwood Missionary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gospel music, reading, writing and most of all, she loved her family and rocking babies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Marie Hughes.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn Keith of Burnside, KY; five daughters, Jenifer (Scott) Keith of Somerset, KY; Michelle Watkins of Nancy, KY; Glena (Brent) Alexander of Somerset, KY; Nelda Keith of Science Hill, KY; and Sydney Redden, five brothers, Len (Dottie) Hughes of Georgetown, KY; Ernest (Fran) Hughes of Florence, KY; Rufus (Betty) Hughes of Whitley City, KY; Thurman “Buddy” (Audra) Hughes of Bronston, KY and Charlie Hughes of Greenwood, KY; four sisters, Opal (Gerald) Chaney of Bronston, KY; Juanita (Mack) Ledbetter of Raeford, NC.; Norma “Boo” (Don) Thompson of Florence, KY and Darlene (Jack) Reynolds of Bronston, KY. Also survived by six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, seven nieces and twelve nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday June 15, 2015 after 6pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday June 16, 2015 at 4pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Rufus Hughes and Bro. Dow Goodin officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brent Alexander, Kevin Thompson, Brian Thompson, Seth Blakely, Ehren Hughes, Jared Reynolds and Jack Reynolds Jr.
