Mr. James E. “Jimmy” Perkins, Jr. of Somerset passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Jimmy was born in Somerset and was the eldest son of the Ms. Mattie Gilmore & the Late Mr. James E. Perkins, Sr. of Somerset. He attended the old Dunbar School and Somerset High School and was a retired employee of the Norfolk Southern Railroad Company after several years of dedicated service.

Jimmy was a kind and generous person and could always be counted on to “get things done”.

He is survived by his mother; Ms. Mattie Gilmore Perkins of Somerset, one loving daughter; Lakisha D. Perkins of Louisville, KY and her Mother Helen Ingram Perkins,Two devoted Sisters; Phyllis (Willie)Duncan, of Monticello, Ky; and Connie (Albert)Green of Somerset; One Devoted Brother David Perkins of Somerset; Four Nephews; Phillip (Nancy) Duncan & Stacey (Robin)Duncan all of Monticello, Michael Duncan of Somerset; and David Pekins Jr. of Lexington, KY; and Four Nieces; Sylvia & Deletrice Perkins of Lexington, Ky and Tracey (Sam) Bess and Marrisha Green all of Somerset; along with a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

He was pre-deceased by his Father James E. Perkins, Sr.

Visitation will be Monday, March 16, 2015 at 12:00 Noon with Funeral Service at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Reverend Phillip Duncan Officiating.

Burial will follow in the Southern Oaks Cemetery of Somerset.
