William Thomas “Billy” Meece, age 79, of Somerset, KY., passed away on Friday March 6, 2015 at his residence.
He was born on February 22, 1936 in Pulaski County, KY to the late Chester and Amanda Meece Randall.
He was a member of Barnesburg Baptist Church, was the retired owner of Bill’s Body Shop, and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed painting cars, playing music, playing the bass guitar, and spending time with his family.
Billy was preceded in death by the love of his life; Betty Harris, his parents; Chester and Amanda Meece, one brother; Bobby Meece, and two sisters; Wilma Jean Meece and Fanny Lou Watchter.
He is survived by two sons; Johnny Russell Meece of Somerset, KY and Harold Dewayne Meece of Somerset, KY., four children of whom he loved as his own; Wayne Harris of Somerset, KY., Vickie (and Donovan) Smith of Somerset, KY., Karen (and Eddie) Hall of Somerset, KY., and Brenda Harris of Nicholasville, KY., nine grandchildren of whom he loved as his own; Tanya Stevens of Frankfort, KY., Tiffany Harris of Charlotte, NC., Josh Harris of Louisville, KY., Don (and Robin) Smith of Somerset, KY., Matt (and Shonda) Smith of Lexington, KY., Julie (and Brad) Stevens of Somerset, KY., Chris (and Sandra) Hall of Louisville, KY., Tony (Renita) Hall of Somerset, KY., and Nathan (and Mallory) Hall of Florence, KY., 12 great-grandchildren of whom he loved as his own; Mackenzie Smith, Morgan Smith, Todd Hall, Emily Hall, Mahala Hall, Noah Stevens, Luke Stevens, Gabbie Hall, Alessia Hall, Emi Jo Smith, Cole Smith, and Josh York, one brother; Jimmy (and Brenda) Meece of Muncie, IN., two sisters; Mary Goforth of Florida and Connie (and Roger) Wilson of Somerset, KY., and a special family member; Jim Meece, his wife, Chris, and their son, Brendan Meece of El Paso, TX.
Visitation will be held on Monday March 9, 2015 after 10am in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday March 9, 2015 at 2pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Hall, Bro. David Morris, and Bro. Donovan Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery.
