Mary Ellen “MooMoo” Owens, age 63, of Somerset, KY., passed away on Monday December 22, 2014 at her residence.
She was born on August 16, 1951 in Nancy, KY., to the late Delmer Griffin and Virginia West Griffin Anderson.
Mary was of Baptist Faith and enjoyed puzzle books, playing bingo, watching the Golden Girls T.V. show, and drinking Dr. Pepper.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Delmer Griffin and Virginia Griffin Anderson, two sisters; Patricia Anderson and Francis Griffin, and two brothers; George Griffin and Delmar Lloyd Griffin.
She is survived by one son; Bruce (Chelsea McGowan) Owens of Nancy, KY., three daughters; Virginia (Wayne) Abrams of Eubank, KY., Samantha “June” (Tim) Renner of Somerset, KY., and Amy (Kevin) Stephens of Waynesburg, KY., two brothers; Mark (Cindy) Griffin of Nancy, KY. and Charlie Griffin of Somerset, KY., four sisters; Ollie Faye (James) Helton of Eubank, KY., Linda Beasley of Somerset, KY., Brenda (Vic) Taylor of Nancy, KY., and Glenda “Nana” (Jamie) Catron of Somerset, KY. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; Destiny Owens, Richard and Harley Early, Logan, Renee, and Josh Abrams, Aarron and Abby Stephens, Cheyenne Bradley, Jessie Renner, Cassidy Brown, Sage Owens, and Bradlee Owens, and two great-grandchildren; Kayden Hunter and Jaycie Combs.
Visitation will be held on Friday December 26, 2014 after 11am in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday December 26, 2014 at 2pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Brian Plants officiating.
Pall Bearers will include Richard Early, Bruce Owens, Brandon Cassidy, James Dean, Tim Renner, and Logan Abrams. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mary Ellen Owens Memorial Fund in C/O Southern Oaks Funeral Home 2110 West Hwy 914 Somerset, KY 42503.
