Gilbert “Sarge” Lynn Jr., age 68 of Somerset, KY., passed away on Sunday November 23, 2014 at UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY.
He was born on January 22, 1946 in Detroit City, MI. to the late Gilbert Lynn Sr. and Reba Daws Lynn.
Gilbert was a truck driver and the former owner and operator of Lynn’s Trucking Company. He attended First Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed flea marketing, watching Nascar, watching the UK Wildcats, and watching old westerns. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Sr. and Reba Lynn, three brothers, Dwayne Lynn, Donald Lynn, and Bruce Lynn, and a sister-in-law, Doris Dotson.
He is survived by his wife, Sundie Woolsey Lynn of whom he married on March 20, 1966. He is also survived by two sons, Jeffrey Wayne (Margaret) Dick of Somerset, KY. and Shannon Lynn of Somerset, KY., like a daughter, Margie Lynn (Randy) Dodson of Science Hill, KY., one brother, Gary Lynn of Somerset, KY., two sisters, Brenda Lynn Owens of Somerset, KY. and Sandra D. Lynn of Somerset, KY., five brother-in-laws, George (Gracie) Halland of Murry, KY., Charles (Janice) Halland of Murry, KY., Larry (Deidra) York of Benton, KY., Matthew (Barbara) York of Benton, KY., and Billy (Connie) Hambleton of Mt. Washington, KY., and six grandchildren, Bryce Dodson, Dane Dodson, Chris Dick, Bishop Lynn, Zachary Whitaker, and Kaylee Whitaker.
Visitation will be held on Saturday November 29, 2014 from 10am to 2pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday November 29, 2014 at 2pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Brother Johnny Dunbar officiating.
Burial will follow in Tanner Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gilbert “Sarge” Lynn Jr. Memorial Fund.
