Brother Chester “Franklin” Durham, age 84 of Somerset, KY., passed away on Friday October 31, 2014 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY.
He was born on July 5, 1930 in Jackson, KY to the late Sherman and Deborah Johnson Durham.
Franklin was a member of Somerset Wesleyan Church and had ministered for 60 plus years including 2 missions, 17 years in Miamisburg, OH., 17 years in Arcanum, OH., 14 years in Glascow, KY., and 6 years at Somerset Wesleyan Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Deborah Durham, one daughter, Charlotte Morrison, five sisters, Melva Jones, Minnie Jones, Verna Redding, Marie Tincher, and Mary Reed, one infant sister and one infant brother.
He is survived by his wife Opal Powell Durham, whom he married on April 11, 1949 in London, KY., two daughters, Joy (Phillip) Shearer of Somerset, KY. and Janet (Mike) Kilburn of Carlisle, OH., one sister, Etta Trichler of Nashville, TN., five grandchildren, Michelle Hall, Dwayne Kilburn, Kelly Benson, Kristy Day, and Craig Archer. He is also survived by twenty two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday November 3, 2014 after 6pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday November 4, 2014 at 11am with Brother Ronnie Hamilton and Brother Jason Wright officiating.
Burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery.
