Bernice Tarter, age 90 of Somerset, KY., passed away on Thursday October 30, 2014 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.
She was born on September 6, 1924 in Trimble, KY to the late Willie and Mae Brown Vanhooser.
Bernice was of Baptist Faith and a member of High Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, flowering, gardening, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Tarter, her parents, Willie and Mae Vanhooser, and one sister, Kathleen Fisher. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Vertrees) Molden of Somerset, KY and Kaye Lynn (Arthur) Hudson of Somerset, KY., two brothers, Billy (Jeanie) Vanhooser of Somerset, KY and Bobby (Wilma) Vanhooser of Monticello, KY., and one sister, Virgie (Eugene) Williams of Monticello, KY. She is also survived by five grandchildren, David (Rhonda) Molden of Lexington, KY., Dale (Kelly) Molden of Colleyville, TX., Marlana (Rick) Stewart of Somerset, KY., Barton (Cindy) Molden of Somerset, KY., and Rose Bailey of Somerset, KY., nine great grandchildren, Sarah (Jon) Moore, Mark Molden, Alyssa Molden, Matthew Molden, Ryan Molden, Will Molden, Jordan Jackson, Audrey Stewart, Lydia Stewart, and a special caregiver, Lou Ann Pickrell.
Visitation will be held on Sunday November 2, 2014 after 4pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday November 3, 2014 at 11am in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Brother C.E. Jacobs officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery.
