Anna Mae Nicely, age 87 of Somerset, formerly of the Woodstock Community, passed away on Monday October 20, 2014 at Somerset Nursing & Rehab.
Anna Mae was born on February 9, 1927 to the late Benjamin “Ben” and Bessie Jane Elder in Bandy, Kentucky.
She was a retired farmer, factory worker, former manager of the Somerset Court Motel & Apts., and the US Forest Service, where she finally retired due to health reasons. She was a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church in Somerset, a charter member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Eubank, and a member of the Woodstock Chapter #521 OES.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben & Bessie McWilliams, a daughter, Melissa Lynn Pierce, a sister, Margaret McWilliams, and a brother-in-law, Robert Glen Wilburn.
She is survived by a son, Gary Lee Nicely (Helen) of Somerset, two daughters, Linda sue Parrigin (Allen), and Teresa Ann Carrender (Jimmy), both of Somerset. A brother, David McWilliams (Mildred) of Eubank, KY., two sisters, Roberta Poynter (Noah) and Wilma Wilburn, both of Somerset, KY.She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Angela Brock (Kenny), Christopher Nicely (fiancée-Tamika Johnson), Richard Scott Lyons (Heather), Melody Bess Haynes (Porter), all of Somerset. Daniel Carrender (Jennifer) of Campbellsville, William Robert “Billy” Carrender, Lacey Renee Irvine (Josh), Matthew Wayne Pierce, and Amanda Jane Pierce, all of Somerset.Also surviving are sixteen great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. Eowyn & Ripley Brock, Hannah Jewel Nicely, Chelsae, Caleb, & Mason Lyons, William Scott Bolin, all of Somerset. Ben, Gabe, and Daniel Carrender, Campbellsville, Haley Jade & Austin Carrender, Bronston, Hallie Lynn & Annabelle Irvin, Haley Lynn & Peyton Pierce, Zachery & Emma Reynosa, and Kate Branscum, all of Somerset.
Visitation will be held on Thursday October 23, 2014 from 11am to 1pm with the funeral services to follow at 1pm at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Ryan officiating.
Burial will be in the Woodstock Cemetery in Woodstock, KY.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, or the Gideon’s Memorial Bible Fund.
