John M. Wilson, age 78 of Somerset, Ky. passed away on Tuesday August 19, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on July 17, 1936 in Somerset, Ky. to the late Delno and Bessie Pierce Wilson.
John was of the Baptist faith.
He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, was former owner operator of Handi Way Foodmart and Jons Wholesale.
He was a 1954 graduate of Nancy High School and enjoyed golf.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Delno and Bessie Wilson. Two brothers, Harold Wilson and Charles Wilson and one sister, Katherine Williams.
He is survived by one son, Johnny (and Aleisha) Wilson of Somerset, Ky. and Susan (and Daniel) Shook of Brandenburg, Ky. Also survived by his grandchildren, Aletheia Wilson, Sophia Wilson, Sarah Shook and Calvin Wilson and his wife from a previous marriage, Joan Holton Wilson of Somerset, Ky.
Visitation will be held on Thursday August 21, 2014 from 4pm until 7pm at the Community Baptist Church, 490 Elihu Cabin Hollow Rd., Somerset, Ky.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday August 22, 2014 at 11am at the Community Baptist Church with Bro. Ron Shaw officiating.
Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date by the family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Gideon Bible fund.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
