Clarence C. Montgomery age 71 of Somerset, Ky was called home on August 1, 2014 at 1:45 a.m. at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Clarence was born January 16, 1943 in Pike County, Ky to Homer and Edna (Honaker) Montgomery.
Clarence was a US Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. After his service he resided in Chicago, Illinois, where he spent most of his adult life. There he met his soul mate of forty years, Brenda Long. Upon his retirement they moved to Somerset, Ky where he attended church at Community Harvest Church of God.
Clarence enjoyed fishing and spending time on the houseboat he shared with Brenda and his dogs Winston and Kitt.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Brenda (Long) Montgomery, his two sisters Lorraine Justice of Pike County, Ky and Roberta Fannin of Boaz, Alabama. Nieces, Cheryl (Ricky) Blevins of Phelps, Ky; Alice Long of River Grove, Illinois; Cindy (Eddie) Wolford of Majestic, Ky; Susan Long of River Grove, Illinois; Carla (Aaron) Pietrzyk of Boaz, Alabama; Stephanie Long of Coal City, Illinois; Jennifer (John) Williamson of Michigan City, Indiana; Nicholas Becker of Michigan City, Indiana; Matthew Long of Coal City, Illinois; Sarah Becker of Michigan City, Indiana; Crystal Long of River Grove, Illinois; Cheryl (John) Miller of Monticello, Illinois; Anthony Becker of Michigan City, Indiana; Tim (Christy) Justice of Freeburn, Ky; Brian (Amy) Montgomery of Boaz, Alabama; Donald Becker of Michigan City, Indiana. Sister-in-law, Patricia ( Don) Becker of Michigan City, Indiana; brother-in-law, Mark (Deanna) Long of Coal City, Illinois and Ricky (Joan) Long of River Grove, Illinois. A brother-in-law, Jimmy Justice.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents Homer and Edna (Honaker) Montgomerty, sister Judy Casery and a special brother-in-law Jimmy Justice. A nephew, Robbie Dean.
Visitation will be held on Sunday August 3, 2014 from 2pm until 9pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday August 4, 2014 at 1pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Perkins and Rev. Julius Lawson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 38 Honor Guard.
