Rufus E. Jones passed away on April 7, 2014 at The Neighborhood.
He was born on September 24, 1916 in Catawba County, Tn. His parents were Minnie and “Doc” Jones.
Rufus is survived by his daughter, Sheila Adams and his son Tommy (Barbara) Jones of Somerset. His grandchildren are Jennifer (Jeff) Pierce and Thomas Jones of Somerset. His great-grandchildren are Jake Pierce, Jensen Pierce, Blakley Garland and Bristol Jones. In addition he is survived by brother Mike Jones of Corbin, Ky., sisters-in-law, Clo Jones of Oneida, Tn. and Virginia Groves of Salt
Lake City, Utah, brothers-in-law, Buddy Jones of Knoxville, Tn., Thurman (Stella) Jones of Denver, Co. and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Auda Mae Jones, son Rufus Elbert Jones II, sisters, Madeline McCarty and Agnes Douglas, and brother Ralph Jones.
Rufus and his wife were well known for serving food at Seven Gables Restaurant and Somerset Lodge. Even on the last day of his life he had requests for recipe for chocolate cream pie. Rufus was a member of the Oleika Shriners Temple.
Visitation for Rufus Jones will be 11am to 1pm on Wednesday April 9, 2014 in the Memory Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home and service to follow at 1pm with Bro. Clyde Strunk officiating.
Burial at Lakeside Memorial Gardens will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requets expressions of sympathy to be made to God’s Food Pantry of Somerset.
