Henry Hamilton, age 90 of Somerset, Ky. passed away on Thursday April 3, 2014 at his residence.

Henry was born on June 9, 1923 in Berea, Ky. to the late Luther Hamilton and Grace Mainous Hamilton Bottom.

Henry was a member of the Berea Methodist Church. He retired from civil service and proudly served during WWII in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post #38 for sixty years and served with the American Legion Funeral Honor Guard post #38 since the guard was formed over 20 years ago. Henry was a member of the Masonic Lodge #491 and a Kentucky Colonel.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ray Hamilton and Hubert Hamilton, three sisters Frances palmer, Nettie Dean and Geneva Trent.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Wilson Hamilton, whom he married on August 30, 1984. One son, Donald Buford of Sumpter, S.C. and one daughter, Lisa (Gene) Lowery of Richmond, Ky. Also survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

Visitation will be held on Friday April 4, 2014 after 6pm in the Memory Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday April 4, 2014 at 8pm in the Memory Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with American Legion Chaplin Clarence Floyd officiating.

Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to “Feed the Children Foundation” and/or the “St. Jude Children’s Hospital” in Memphis, Tn.
