Jim Cook, age 56 of Colorado Springs, CO moved to heaven to be with Jesus on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from his home in Colorado Springs, CO.
He was born on February 2, 1957 in Bakersfield, CA to the late Roy W. Cook and Bonnie Lee McCoy Cook of Somerset, KY.
Jim was actively affiliated with Andrew Wommack Ministries as a full time Bible College Student at Charis Bible College in Woodland Park, CO. He was scheduled to graduate on May 17, 2014 becoming a licensed minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in order to pursue the call of God on his life. He was also a member of Bethel Harvest Church in Nicholasville, KY and a Veteran of the Vietnam era serving in the United States Army and Army Reserves with 27 years of service.Jim was a man of great integrity and extremely passionate about serving His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His life and actions were a true reflection of Christ, exemplifying a servant’s heart by his generous spirit, consistently putting the needs of others before his own. Jim’s life was radically changed forever when he came into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and his greatest heart’s desire was to see others find that joy and freedom that he found in Jesus. He loved his family dearly, as well as his dog Baxter, who was always by his side. Full of the love of God, devoted, hardworking, friendly, outgoing, and humorous were all attributes that Jim fully embodied but no words will ever be able to adequately express what a wonderful person he was or how greatly he will be missed.
He is survived by His beloved wife, Teresa Brock Cook whom he married on August 3, 2002 at Beacon Hill Baptist Church in Somerset, KY, his mother, four sons: Roy William (Nora) Cook of Fort Collins, CO, Matthew Cook of CA, Zachary Cook of CA and Joshua (Tracy) Davis of Haslet, TX, two daughters: Sarah Cook of Tehachapi, CA and Kylie (Simon) Ramirez of Science Hill, KY, two step-brothers: Mike (Donna) Burdine and Jeff (Lisa) Burdine all of Somerset, KY, two step-sisters: Sandy (Tom) Adams of Eubank, KY and Karyn Price of Dade City, FL. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Austin Cook, Mackenzie Martinez, Hunter Brill, Alexander Martinez, Antonio Martinez, Natalia Martinez and Preston Davis. He was preceded in death by his father and a step-sister, Brenda Roberts.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2014 after 3pm in the Memory Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 11am in the Memory Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Pastor Marion Dalton and Pastor Mark Keene officiating.
Burial will be in the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, KY with Full Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
