Vernon New, age 79 of the Shopville Community passed away on Tuesday January 14, 2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on September 25, 1934 in Jonesville Community of Wayne Co. KY to the late Herstle and Myrtle Nevels New.
Vernon was a farmer and former Owner and Operator of Vernon New Gravel and Lime Trucking Co. He was also a member of Pleasant Run Baptist Church, enjoyed family reunions, traveling around the state to different parks and lakes, farming, taking care of his cattle and also enjoyed his Hardee’s coffee group every morning.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Doris Randall New, whom he married in Jellico, TN in 1954. Two brothers, Paul New and Hulan New. One sister, Geraldine Fox and special companion, Gaye Lowery. One niece, Jacqulene Brinkley. Two nephews, Danny Fox and James Dishman.
He is survived by one sister, Phyllis Dishman of Bronston, KY. One brother, Willis (Zeola) New of Shopville, KY. Nieces, Paula (Shane) Grimsley, Janice (John) Louth, Rhonda (Brad) Hewitt, Janet Dishman, Judy Dishman, Pam (Don) Perry and Frances (Mohammand) Douaou. Nephews, Charlie (Lisa) New, Mike (Pam) New and Jerry Fox. Also survived by several great neices, great nephews. His best friends, Verl and Louise Hunt of Shopville, KY.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 15, 2014 after 5pm in the Memory Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday January 16, 2014 at 10am in the Memory Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Scotty Nix and Bro. Blake Pinson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Randall Cemetery in Shopville, KY.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Randall Cemetery in C/O Sherman Parkey.
