Betty Joyce Richards Burton, age 76, was granted her angel wings on January 3, 2014 at her residence. Betty’s life would seem too short to many, but those who knew her understood that the quality of life far exceeds the amount of time in which one lives. Her sweet loving smile, huge giving heart and very outgoing personality brought so much joy to her family and friends. Although at times being weak and frail she gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. She loved spending time with family, watching UK Basketball, fishing, yard selling and going to church. She was a member for over 30 years at Gospel Tabernacle Church.
She was born on March 15, 1937 in Somerset, KY.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Tolbert and Lura Richards. Her husband Mark Burton, son Johnny Burton, two daughters Doris Allen and Bonna Burton. One son in law, Richard Roark. One brother, James Richards and one sister, Carolyn Gibson.
She is survived by two brothers, Ray (Betty) Richards of Somerset, KY and BJ (Erma) Richards of Indianapolis, IN. Two sons, Waide Burton of Somerset, KY and Dennis (Penny) Bolin of Indiana. Six daughters, Donna (Billy) Vanhook of Somerset, KY, Violet (Johnny) Rose of Somerset, KY, Wanda (Kevin) Dunn of Danville, KY, Mary (Ronnie) Dagley of Somerset, KY, Tammy (Jackie) Loveless of Somerset, KY, Lisa Roark of Somerset, KY and Edith (Virgil) Baker of Nicholasville, KY. She had twenty-seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday January 6, 2014 after 6pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday January 7, 2014 at 2pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Dunbar and Bro. Jeff Phillips officiating.
Burial will be in the Somerset Cemetery.
