Joni Watts-Claunch, age 36 passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Joni was a ray of sunshine and will be remembered fondly by everyone who knew her. She always wore a beautiful smile and had loving and kind words for everyone she met. Joni, with her warm and engaging personality, was always ready to help those in need. She and her husband Richard have welcomed many friends and family into their home when they had nowhere to go. Two years ago God opened the door for Joni to become a mother to two beautiful children Abigail and Anthony Watts-Claunch whom she loved with all her heart. She has touched many lives and her legacy will live on in her two beautiful children and in the hearts of all who loved her.
Joni attended the University of Kentucky and was employed by PNC Bank of Lexington. She was an active member of the Ladies Leads of Lexington and founder of BNI of Lexington.
Joni was born on August 6, 1977 in Inez, KY to the late Mr. and Mrs. Dean S. and Sandra Gail Watts.
She is survived by her husband Richard F. Claunch ll whom she married on October 20, 2007. A daughter Abigail Watts-Claunch and a son Anthony Watts-Claunch. She is also survived by her father and mother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Richard Claunch of Nancy, KY. Other survivors are a brother, Jason Dean Watts, and a sister, Teresa Renee Watts Campbell. Brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws Robbie and Robin Claunch, Nancy, KY, Randy and Sherry Claunch, Hazard, KY, Barry and Rosemary (Claunch) Bray, Somerset, KY and Chris and Rhonda (Claunch) Seward, Lexington, KY. Nieces and nephews, Rebecca A. Burton and Brayden, Lexington, KY, Doyle Seth Haynes, Berea, KY and Sarah Grace Franklin Claunch, Nancy, KY and the late Sara Elizabeth Haynes.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Joni on Saturday January 4, 2014 at 2PM at the Grace Baptist Church in Somerset. Visitation will begin at 12PM that day. The family of Joni-Watts Claunch is asking that all expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to Abby and Anthony Watts-Claunch education fund at any PNC Bank.
