Joseph Miller, age 84 of Ferguson, KY passed away Monday November 11, 2013 at his home.
He was born on April 7, 1929 in English, KY to the late Ernest and Helen Savage Miller.
He was a retired Chef and Baker and of the Baptist faith. At the age of 72 he held the world record for his age of dead lifting at 501 pounds in Barstow, California. He loved boxing and was a former wrestler of 16 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents. A son, Douglas Roysdon. One brother, John Miller and one sister, Mary Helen Sanders.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia VanTongeren Miller, whom he married on September 9, 2003 in Victorville, California. Two daughters, Mary Helen Miller and Patty Jo Miller both of Somerset, Ky. Four grandchildren, Johnathan Roysdon, Tina Decker, Joseph Decker and Amanda Mock. Six great grandchildren, Annesa, Jordan, Damion, J.B., JJ and Cody.
Visitation will be held Tuesday November 12, 2013 after 5pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday November 12, 2013 at 7pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Upchurch officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, KY.
