Goldie B. Stringer, age 76 was born on December 13, 1936 to the late George and Sylvia McLin Stringer of the Ringgold Community in Pulaski Co. KY. He departed this life October 26, 2013 Saturday afternoon at 1:45 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Center at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset surrounded by his family.

On July 26, 1957 he was united in marriage to Susie Kaye Hammond who survives. This union last 56 years and 3 months.

He leaves behind his loving wife and one sister, Irene Dagley of Golden Years Nursing Home in Monticello, KY. A special niece, Donna Foster of the Ringgold Community. Special friend, Cy Waddle and family. Sister in laws, Gloria (Ron) Mardis of Bronston, KY, Alma Smith of Monticello, KY, Nancy (Jim) Brown of Monticello, KY, Eleanor (Bob) Gregory of Monticello, KY, Faye Silvers of Monticello, KY, Sue Smith of Monticello, KY, and Shirley Simpson of Frazier Community. Brother in laws, Marvin Lee Hammond of Shopville, KY and James Hammond of Frazier, KY.

Preceding him in death are three sisters, Jenniav (Vertrees) Girdler, Anna (Wendell)Thompson and Faye (Henry) Lester. One brother in law, Charles Hammond.

Goldie retired from working at Somerset Oil after 45 years of faithful service on August 23, 1999. He was a supervisor of Somerset Oil service stations in Eastern Kentucky. He accepted Christ as a young man and always talked about growing up in a Christian home and attending the Ringgold Methodist Church as a youth. Goldie had a strong faith in God.

Visitation will be held Monday October 28, 2013 after 5pm in the Remembrance Chapel of Southern oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday October 29, 2013 at 11AM in the Remembrance Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Keith McKim officiating.

Burial will be in the Elk Springs Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Jean Waddle Cancer Center C/O Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
