Lowell O. Bowling, age 66, of Somerset passed away on Friday September 27, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Lowell was born in Leslie County on August 25, 1947 to the late Altro and Faye Huff Bowling. Lowell was the manager of the Electrolux Vacuum store of Somerset for over 40 years. He was a member of the Ferguson Baptist Church where he was the current Mens Sunday School teacher and the moderator of church business meetings. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and church family. He was known as the “official hug giver”
Mr. Bowling leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Sandra Gail Dilbert (Douglas) Bowling whom he married on November 14, 1992 in Somerset; sons, Johnny (Melissa) Douglas of Shopville and Jamie (Teresa) Douglas of Georgetown, Kentucky; daughters, Cynthia Lowelll Douglas of Ferguson and Oreida Faye (Tim) Whiles of Ferguson; brothers, Wayne (Lois) Bowling of Illinois and Estill Bowling of Somerset; grandchildren, Amber (Keegan) Bray, Jessica (Ben) Meeks, Brandon Douglas, Ashlee Douglas, Seath Whiles, Zachary Whiles, Laura Douglas, Hailey Douglas, Brooklyn Douglas, Caitlynn Douglas, and Trey Douglas; great grandchildren, Elijah Meeks, Gracelyn Meeks, Kinley Bray.
He is preceded in death by his parents, along with his son, David Douglas; brother, Larry Bowling; sister, Anita Wilson.
Visitation for Mr. Bowling will be Sunday September 29, 2013 at 5 P.M. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday September 30, 2013 at noon with Bro. Jason Moore and Bro. Darrell Vance officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Ben Meeks, Keegan Bray, Jamie Douglas, Seth Whiles, Zachary Whiles, Brandon Douglas will serve as active pallbearers. Elijah Meeks, Trey Douglas, Danny Osborne, and Johnny Douglas will serve as honorary pallbearers.
