Opal Lee Manning Age 86 of Somerset, Ky. passed away Tuesday September 17, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born on July 20, 1927 in the Greenwood community in McCreary Co. Ky. to the late Lee and Dora Alice Roberts Ballou.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith, was loving and devoted to her family. Opal demonstrated her strong love and devotion throughout five generations. She was always a devout Christian woman who brought joy, laughter and love to those around her at all times. Opal will be missed by many and loved forever.
She was the widow of Homer Manning. Also preceded in death by her parents. One daughter, Brenda Weekley. One brother, Robert Ballou and one sister, Magaline Holloway. One son-in-law, Noble Hampton and a grandson, Michael Dale Manning.
She is survived by three sons, Jimmy Dale Manning of Somerset, Ky., Gary (Trish) Manning of Norwood, OH and Mike (Julie) Manning of Norwood, OH. Four daughters, Lena Hampton of Somerset, Ky., Barbara (Larry) Calhoun of Somerset, Ky., Sherry (Sammy) Meece of Somerset, Ky. and Tina Manning of Eubank, Ky. Thirteen grandchildren, Tommy Silvers, Terry Silvers, Carol Hampton, Steve Hampton, Becky Calhoun, Jason Manning, Josh Manning, Jamie Manning, Nikki Calhoun, Allen Manning, Cassie LeSar, Chris Manning and Justin Manning. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday September 21, 2013 at 2pm at Lakeside Memorial Gardens with Bro. Clyde Strunk officiating.
