Nina Marian Keeney, Nancy, KY, was born February 10, 1929 and passed away at home August 29, 2013 from complications of a fall the previous week. Her parents, Ella Mae Baker Yanders and Chester Yanders, proceeded her in death. A child of the depression; she valued hard work and thrift.
She married Robert Wayne Keeney on July 14, 1945; a marriage which lasted 62 years until Robert`s death in November 2007. One son was born to the union, Michael Wayne Keeney, Nancy, KY, who with wife Linda, survives, along with her grandchildren Kristina Keeney Sauer and husband Mark of Louisville, KY; Roman Michael Keeney and wife Lori of West Lafayette, IN; and two great grandsons , Robert Travis Keeney, and Lucas Michael Keeney. Her extended immediate family include Victorio and Jacalena Flores, and their children Victorio Jr and Jennifer of Nancy, KY. Other immediate family survivors include sister Bernice Whiting, and brother Charles Yanders. Her sisters Reba Prather and Nancy Taylor proceeded her in death, as well as brothers Avery, Ray, and Baker Yanders. For most of her life, she was a member of the Sardis Methodist Church; hers and Robert`s home has been a habitué of several of the young preachers who pastored Sardis; among them, Robert Mangum, Golden Shook, and Roger Russell. Visitation will be held Sunday September 1, 2013 after 1pm in Chapel A of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Sunday September 1, 2013 at 3pm in Chapel A of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Russell and Bro. Joe Altman officiating. Graveside Services will be Tuesday September 3, 2013 at 10am in the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Ky. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Richard D. New, Director.
