Donnie G. Wilson, 66, of the Slate Branch community, went to be with his Lord on April 6, 2013 at his home. He was born on January 2, 1947 in Columbia, Ky., to the late Garlan and Lorena Cole Wilson. Don proudly served and retired from the U.S. Army. Among numerous medals he received was a Purple Heart from wounds received in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Unit. Don and Sharon Larson were united in marriage on September 11, 1966 in Waterman, Illinois. Don was a member and deacon of the Slate Branch Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Sharon, daughter, Connie Wilson and fiancé David Renaud, of Lisbon Falls, Maine; and son Michael Wilson of Somerset, Ky. He is also survived by two brothers, Wallace (Carolyn) Wilson of Illinois, and Woodrow (Pat) Wilson of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, (his mother-in-law and father-in-law Muriel and Oscar Larson) four sisters and three brothers.

Visitation for Mr. Wilson will be Tuesday, April 9, 2013, 5:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2013 , 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Slate Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Military honors will be conducted by the American legion post 38 honor gaurd.
