Lena “Granny Bea” Dykes age 94 of Grundy Rd. departed this life on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was born on July 20, 1918 to the late Ralph and Elizabeth Whitis Bishop. She was united in marriage to Earl Dykes. He preceded her in death on October 19, 1985. She was a faithful and supporting member of Barnesburg Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.
She is survived by two sons, Donald (Charlotte) Dykes and Gerald (Shirley) Dykes of Somerset, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Robyn and Russell Sneed of Somerset, Kentucky, Greg and Kim Dykes of Columbia, Kentucky, and Tammy (Jeff) Pendelton of Nicholasville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Corey Price of Richmond, Kentucky, Rachel Price and Madison Hampton of Lexington, Kentucky, and Hunter and Savannah Dykes of Somerset; Zachary, Mckenzie, and Miranda Pendleton, Ciara and Jaecie Hampton of Lexington; two step great grand daughters, Elizabeth and Jenna McGaha of Columbia, Kentucky , two special nieces Janie Edwards and Becky Hamlin; and one sister ; Shirley Stewart of Shopville, Kentucky.
She is also preceded in death by her one daughter, Beverly Kay Dykes; grandson, Gerald Paul Dykes, Jr.; two brothers, Norman and Kenneth Bishop; and one sister, Geneva Douglas.

Visitation for Ms. Dykes will be Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 11:00- 1:00p.m in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Harold Harris and Bro. Austin Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at the Rock Lick Cemetery.
