Faye Brinson, age 91, passed away on March 3, 2013, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on March 27, 1921 in the Dykes community of Pulaski County, a daughter of the late George B. and Martha Messamore Dykes. She was married to Charles Mason Brinson, who preceded her in death in 1995. From this union was one child, Master Sgt. William Brinson, Ret. USAF, who was her primary caregiver for the last four years.

Faye retired from Sunrise Manor Nursing Home where she worked as a medication tech and aide. In her younger years she worked for the Kroger Company in Cincinnati, Ohio before moving back to the Wilburn community of Pulaski County where she helped with the family farm. She was an avid reader, loved spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, fishing, and especially loved vacationing on the beaches of South Carolina. She was of Baptist faith.

In addition to her son, she is survived by her daughter-in-law Pat; grandson, MK1 Charles Brinson (and Celena) United States Coast Guard, Alameda, California; granddaughter, Sarah Brinson, Somerset; and her great-granddaughter, Sadie Aaron Brinson, ST. Petersburg, Florida. She is also survived by her special pet,” Ziggey”, who after many years of her confusion became known to her only as “Poochy”.

Faye was preceded in death by brothers, Bill, Lloyd, Jesse and Benjamin. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Rose Hensley, Georgie Lee Hausse and Lelene Frye. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Visitation for Faye Brinson will be at Southern Oaks Funeral Home on Thursday March 7, 2013 from 11-1 P.M. Her funeral will follow at 1 P.M. with Rev. Arnold Dykes and Rev. Gordon Dykes.

Interment will be private at a later date in the Somerset City Cemetery. Southern Oaks Funeral Home Entrusted with the arrangements.
