Mary Jane Rigney Brewster, age 61, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

The youngest of four, she was born on September 12, 1951 in McMinnville, Tennesee to the late S.L. Rigney J.R. and Sarah Louise Martin Rigney. At the age of five, on her own accord, she gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ at the Summitville United Methodist Church and remained of the Methodist faith in various churches for the rest of her life.

On May 19, 1978, following a brief courtship, she married the love of her life, William Kenneth Brewster. Together they have two sons, Mark and Bryan Brewster, both of Somerset, Kentucky.

As a career, she started work at a small retail chain (that would eventually be absorbed by Wal-Mart) in 1969 at the age of 18. Throughout the years of hard work she found success eventually becoming part of the senior procurement team at the home office in Nashville, Tennessee. Following the merger with Wal-Mart in 1981, she took on a more challenging role as assistant, and then Manager of the local Wal-Mart store in Somerset, Kentucky, with almost 30 years of service, she retired in 1998. After which, she stayed busy with other business ventures and hobbies that include RV traveling, boating, and a surprising new interest in farming on her beloved “Autumn Run” farm, just west of Somerset.

Survivors include her Husband Bill, Sons Mark and Bryan, Sisters Ann (Steve) Mitchell of Nashville, TN, Carolyn Rigney of Hixson, TN and brother S.L. “Layne” Rigney III, also of Hixson, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and close friends, including a very special friend, Linda Gosser. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

A Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 18, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, following a visitation Sunday February 17, 2013 at 5:00 P.M. with her first cousin, Rev. Gerald Sanders officiating in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
