Merita Reva Marcum age 83, of Somerset passed away on Thursday December 27, 2012 at the Highlands. Mrs. Marcum was born in Nancy, Kentucky to the late Brent and Ada Trimble Tarter on April 8, 1929. She was a member of the Naomi Nazarene Church where she was treasure for 42 years. Mrs. Marcum enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. She was also a member of Homemakers.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Raymond Lee (Chrystal) Marcum, Norman Charles (Sue) Marcum, and Marty Dewayne (Kathy) Marcum; brothers, Bill Tarter of Texas, Amos Tarter of Dayton, Lowell Tarter of Nicholasville, and Garnett Tarter of Nancy; grandchildren, Jason Marcum, Amy Withers, Brooklyn Marcum, and Josiah Marcum; great grandchild, Andrew Withers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl Marcum; brothers, John Tarter, Ed Tarter, R.C. Tarter, Lloyd Tarter, Russ Tarter, and Delbert “Rook” Tarter; sisters, Betty Beasley, Elsie Wilson, Erma Davenport, and Adell Baugh.

Visitation for Mrs. Marcum will be Saturday December 29, 2012 from 5-8 P.M. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday December 30, 2012 at 2 P.M. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Brian Fudge officiating.

In lieu of flowers family request that expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or the Gideon Bible Memorials.
