Marjorie Powell Mayfield, 94, of Somerset departed this life Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Cumberland Nursing and Rehab Center. Mrs. Mayfield was born February 15, 1918 in Somerset, Kentucky to the late Fred and Lena Jones Powell.
Mrs. Mayfield was a member and attended Denham St. Baptist Church faithfully as long as her health permitted. She retired from the Palm Beach Co.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister and friend, Faustine Mayfield of Somerset; several nieces; nephews; cousins; sister in law, Alice Powell; and a host of good friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Mayfield; her parents; son, Clyde Mayfield; two foster sons, Buster Vandervelde and Gene Vandervelde; brothers, Johnny Prather and Brad Powell; seven brothers in law; five sisters in law.
Visitation will be Friday August 10,th at 6 P.m. Funeral Services will be Saturday August 11th at 1 P.M. with Bro. Elmo Mounce and Bro. David Muse officiating. Interment will follow at Slate Branch Community Cemetery. All Services will be conducted in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
There will be a time of fellowship after the funeral services in the community room at Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
