Richard Dewayne Helton, age 56, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on March 3, 1963 in Somerset, son of the late Jesse T. and Shirley June Helton.
He was a self-employed carpenter and of the Baptist faith. Richard enjoyed playing the guitar, carving, arrowheads and motorcycles.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves behind his lifelong partner and soulmate, Diana Lynn Rose; two sisters, Denise Hardwick and Mary Taylor; step-daughter, Richelle (and John) Sharp; five nephews, Eric Hardwick, Aaron Hardwick, Nathan Hardwick, Kyle Taylor and Greg Taylor; brother-in-law, Danny Hardwick, one great-niece, Jailynn Rose Hardwick; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Anabella and Caleb. He also leaves behind many friends and brothers from Whitis Cabinets and great-nieces and great-nephews from the Goldson family.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2019 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Chaplain Greg Ryan officiating.
Burial will be in Sloans Valley Cemetery.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Richard Dewayne Helton.

My staff and I enjoyed the privilege of knowing Richard and Diana. He was truly a gentleman who will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Diana and the family. May the Lord bless you with peace, fond memories, and the joy of being loved by this gentle man.
