Phyllis Gossett Price, age 72 of Somerset, Ky. passed away on Saturday November 15, 2014 at her residence.
She was born on December 2, 1941 in the Squib Community to the late William Henry and Florida Ellan Whitaker Price.
Phyllis was a member of the Seven Oaks Baptist Mission. She retired as a Teacher’s aide at Memorial Elementary. She was an active member and had served as the past President for 11 years of the American Legion Unit 38 Auxiliary and she was an active leader in organizing and obtaining the van thru the American Legion Post 38 and then served as coordinator for veterans van for the Disabled American Veterans. She was also the founder and served as team captain of the American Cancer Society, “Team Price”.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Gossett, Five brothers, Quinton, William Donald Jr., Wayne, Eugene and Phillip Lee Price and one sister, Jeselene Sams.
She is survived by three sons, Anthony (Kristie) Gossett of the Slate Branch Community, Robbie (Danel) Gossett of Science Hill, Ky and Gordon (Misty) Gossett of Somerset, Ky; One daughter, Cindy (Roger) Colyer of Somerset, Ky; Six grandchildren, Natasha (Joe) Willett, Robert Dennis Gossett, Hannah Kennedy, Lily Kennedy, Alison (Bobby) Willett and Grace Gossett. Six great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Gibson, Savannah Jay Gibson, Layla Gibson, Serena Gossett, Jayden Cain Gossett and Cross Randolph, along with her aunt, Bethel (Harold) Vest of Shopville, Ky, a friend, Hobie Hall of Waynesburg, Ky and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 18, 2014 after 5pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday November 19, 2014 at 1pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Clyde Strunk officiating.
Burial will follow in the Price-Whitaker Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society “Team Price”.
