Anna Guffey Sears, age 71 of Somerset, Ky. passed away on Sunday August 10, 2014 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born on May 11, 1943 in Sparta, Tn. to Ida Catron Guffey and the late Lesco “Bill” Guffey. Anna was of the Baptist faith.

he was a retired CNA and MedTech for Dishmans Personal Care Home and a foster parent for Adanta Behavioral Group for more than fifteen years. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 526 and enjoyed bowling, feeding her wild coons and loved her cats.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Sears and her father, Lesco “Bill” Guffey. One son, Tony Hicks. One brother, James Ralph Guffey. Two sisters, Betty Tarter and Leta Lowe.

She is survived by her mother, Ida Catron Guffey of Wayne Co. Ky. One daughter, Nicole States of Eagle, Iowa. One step-son, Larry Sears of Science Hill, Ky. Four aunts, Luda, Dica, Allene and Helen. One uncle, Everett. Three sisters, Theresa (Joe) Reynolds of Bronston, Ky; Mary Phillippi of Bowling Green, Ky. and Emma Jean Brake of Burnside, Ky. Three grandchildren, Logan Hicks, Elisha Hicks and Jacob States. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 12, 2014 after 6pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Order of Eastern Star Services Rites by the Chapter 526 to be held at 7pm on Tuesday.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday August 13, 2014 at 2pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Dudley Bryant officiating.

Burial will be in the Pitman Creek Cemetery.
