Frank D. Collins, age 77, of Somerset, KY., passed away on Monday July 13, 2015 at Somerwoods Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born on September 8, 1937 in Waltz Creek in Harlan County, KY to the late John Collins and Lassie Eckles Collins.
He was a member of Bronston Baptist Church and was retired former owner and operator of Collins and Sons Service Station and Collins Trucking Company. He was a prankster and enjoyed rebuilding cars, going fishing, boating, watching Nascar and UK Basketball, and spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lassie Collins, four brothers, Cap Collins, James Collins, Ray Collins, and JB Collins, and one sister, Mary Collins Wilder.
He is survived by his wife Ida “Pinkey” Hollars Collins of whom he married on December 26, 2001 in Science Hill, KY; one son, Craig (and Kristen) Collins of Homestead, FL; four daughters, Stacey Collins of Dayton, OH; Alicia Koetter Thompson of Pennsylvania; Michelle (and Kelly) Barker of Somerset, KY; and Mary Jo (and Chris) Richardson of Science Hill, KY; one brother, Bob (and Diana) Collins of Dayton, OH; one sister, Shirley Collins of Texas; six grandchildren, Nicholas (and Kelly) Dalton, Ciera (and Rob) Wilson, Madison Barker, Caedon Collins, Chandler Collins, and Chelsea Collins, and three great-grandchildren, Audrey Dalton, Brooklyn Dalton, and Lily Wilson.
Visitation will be held on Friday July 17, 2015 from 11am to 1pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday July 17, 2015 at 1pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Ken Nielson and Bro. John Helton officiating.
Burial will follow in Bronston Cemetery.
